Modern Command Line Tools - We Are Getting "Rusty"

In recent years, a trend towards re-implementations existing or new implementations of Linux command line tools in Rust was identified in the community. Alongside Go and bash, Rust is the leading language for these newly written toools. Let's take a look at the best, practical and entertaining Linux command line tools that meet these criteria.

The cool, new command line tools that have been released in recent years are - with a few outliers such as Node.js or Java - mostly written in Bash script, Go or Rust. Rust has great appeal in this area, certainly also due to it's platform independence, which also reflects in the number of solutions available.

Let me take you on a little journey and show you tools beyond the POSIX standard that can simplify or beautify your everyday command line life - and admit it, the command line is still better than any GUI and Alexa, Siri, Jeeves and Cortana combined - and maybe even put a smile on your face.

A talk for all those who prefer command line windows to a GUI or are simply curious about what goes on "in the black window" (which doesn't have to be black at all). Rust or command line knowledge is not required.

Leyrer - rants, Linux, command lines, old computer systems, IT fails, bad puns and lot's of sarcasm. If you ask a question at one of my talks, Manner might be in your future.
